Waste Based Architecture

2012 Architects (NL) has mastered the art of waste based architecture. They use old washing machines, tires, rejected windshields from cars and anything else that has been wasted as a basis for their architecture. The picture below shows their coffee bar *K, which was entirely assembled from washing machine parts. Unfortunately *K was destroyed when the TU Delft Faculty of Architecture, in which is was located, burnt down last year.

Together with Suite75, 2012 Architects initiated the website Superuse.org. This is an online community of designers, architects and everybody else who is interested in inventive ways of recycling and a showcase for successful recycling projects. 2012 also initiated the site Recyclicity.net, an online marketplace for the exchange of free recycleable materials.

This video of their work has been made by website http://www.design-e2.com. You can find the entire episode there.
